Benjamin C. Debney

Attorney Benjamin C. Debney practices Oregon workers’ compensation law, and additionally brings to the firm a background in appellate law and policy.  At the firm, he assists employer clients in seeking to effectively resolve workers’ compensation claims, and litigates claims that cannot be resolved on terms acceptable to firm clients.

Exceptional employer outcomes are a direct result of providing outstanding customer service.  By identifying and focusing on the matters that are the most critical to each case at the outset, I help employers better manage cases efficiently and cost-effectively.

Prior to joining the firm, Ben served in a number of government positions involving Oregon workers’ compensation law.  As Deputy Legislative Counsel, he assisted in drafting over 200 statutes, and testified numerous times before legislative committees.  As an Appellate Specialist, he managed more than 100 Oregon Workers’ Compensation Board and Court of Appeals claims.  In this capacity, Ben testified before the Oregon legislative committee regarding revisions to Oregon’s worker’s compensation laws.

Ben also served as the Oregon Senior Staff Counsel for Travelers, and previously clerked for the Hon. Janice R. Wilson, Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge.  Currently, Ben also serves as the Chair of the Oregon State Worker’s Compensation Legislative & Rules Committee.

In addition to practicing law, much of Ben’s time is devoted to his wife and three children.  He is also an avid outdoors enthusiast, where he enjoys backpacking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
